Make no mistake about it: Tianna Madison is back.
The Elyria High grad and former world long jump champion (2005) won the 60-meter dash Sunday at the USA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Albuquerque.
Madison, who equaled her season’s world-leading time of 7.02 in the finals to beat Barbara Pierre (7.05) and Lakya Brookins (7.14), now owns the three fastest times in the world this season and the fifth-fastest in U.S. history.
“I’m happy,” Madison was quoted as saying in a press release. “It always feels good to execute after I’ve trained hard all fall.”
The 26-year-old Madison, who won her first USA track title, qualified to represent Team USA in the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, on March 9-11.
