Browns sign ex-Dolphins starter, add depth to offensive line

The Browns added depth and versatility to their offensive line Monday, signing free agent Rex Hadnot to a two-year contract.
Hadnot (6-foot-2, 325 pound) started 55 games in four years with the Miami Dolphins, 34 at right guard, 19 at center and two at left guard. Hadnot, a sixth-round draft pick in 2004, started 16 games at right guard last season and has started every game the last three seasons.
“The Browns are fortunate to add another quality lineman to our existing group,” general manger Phil Savage said in a statement. “With his versatility and experience, we feel great about having Rex on our team. He brings size, strength and has a physical style of play.”
Hadnot, 26, could compete with Ryan Tucker for the starting spot at right guard or settle in as the backup at center and both guard spots. If Hadnot starts at right guard, Tucker could compete with Kevin Shaffer at right tackle. Tucker had been a mainstay at right tackle before switching to guard last year when Seth McKinney was lost for the season with an injury.
Hadnot went to the University of Houston and visited the Texans last week.
