He forced overtime with a 51-yard field goal into the wind and won it from 33 yards. He also made kicks from 28 and 39 yards.
Dawson showed resilience, bouncing back from a 35-yard miss in the first quarter and last week`s
52-yarder that fell short in Pittsburgh in the final seconds. He has a thin skin and hears all the criticism, but he showed he can handle the pressure when it`s at its thickest.
He said during the week he wouldn`t kick to Joshua Cribbs, but did all day. Cribbs burned him with seven kickoff returns for a franchise-record 245 yards, including ones that set up the tying and winning scores.
Cribbs also averaged 15.3 yards on four punt returns. He`s the most exciting player on the Browns.
PLAY OF THE GAME
With 11 seconds left, the Browns needed 15 yards to even attempt a long field goal. Quarterback Derek Anderson had linebacker Antwan Barnes draped on him, but managed to fire a pass down the middle in the direction of Braylon Edwards.
Edwards did the rest, jumping to catch the ball and hanging on amid defenders. The catch went for 18 yards, the Browns called timeout and Dawson tied the game - by about a yard.
STAT OF THE GAME
Sacks by the Browns. They had seven through eight weeks, but got four vs. the Steelers last week and six vs. the Ravens on Sunday.
QUOTE OF THE GAME
"I was in the locker room and had to turn around. I`m glad I didn`t take off my shoes. I had to ask for a new pair of gloves." - Browns linebacker Antwan Peek, who left the field before the ruling on Phil Dawson`s tying field goal was reversed.
Kyle Boller rallied in the second half, but Derek Anderson made the two big throws to win the game.
Jamal Lewis proved something to his former team with 122 total yards and a touchdown. Willis McGahee totaled 126.
Kellen Winslow and Braylon Edwards stood up at critical moments. Devard Darling had four catches for 107 yards and a TD for the Ravens.
The Ravens sacked Anderson just twice - one was a busted play and he tripped on the other - and Lewis had some holes.
Orpheus Roye had eight tackles and a half-sack in place of Shaun Smith, and Robaire Smith had two sacks. Haloti Ngata punched Joe Thomas.
Ray Lewis was everywhere with 16 tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception for a touchdown.
An injured Ravens unit held up pretty well, but Brodney Pool`s 100-yard interception return tips the scales.
Joshua Cribbs had 245 kickoff return yards, and Phil Dawson forced overtime and won the game.
Romeo Crennel won a challenge for the second straight week and improved to 3-2 in the AFC North.
