Alberta May Edwards (nee Morgan), 99, of Kipton, was taken home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at her home following a full and meaningful life. She was a born August 26, 1919 in Camden Township. Alberta was a lifelong resident of Camden Township and the village of Kipton.
She served her community in many capacities including Kipton Postmistress, Fire ladies Auxiliary, Farm Women's Club and news reporter for Wellington Enterprise.
She attended and had been a member of Camden Baptist Church, Wellington, Ohio since birth. Her love for God and others was evident in her devotion to her church and her family. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was instrumental in starting the Awana Children's Program. She was the founding member of the Naomi Circle, an important ministry for widows within the church. She was truly an example of the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31. Her baking, sewing, quilting, embroidery skills and community service were all evidence of an industrious, giving woman.
She has left a legacy of faithfulness to her four children, Ron Edwards (Margaret) of Winchester, Ohio, Dan Edwards (Kayla) of Wheelersburg, Ohio and Elaine Pifer of Wellington; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren and her brother, Elmer Morgan of Vermilion.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Homer Edwards on November 17, 1996; daughter, Janette "Nettie" Nutt on December 26, 2017; sisters, Ruth Beam, Ella Hill and her parents, Guy and Mildred Morgan (nee Whitney).
Friends may call Friday, July 12, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Camden Baptist Church, 17901 State Route 511, Wellington. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Camden Baptist Church. The Reverend Larry Nocella, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at Camden Cemetery, Camden Township.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to Camden Baptist Church, State Route 511, Wellington, OH 44090.
