Lawrence Edward "Larry" Frey, 75, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, June 10, 2019.
Larry taught English for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and retired after 30 years in 1996. Larry was the first in his family to graduate college (Cleveland State University in 1964), was an avid gardener, reader, woodworker and genealogist and painted houses for more than 30 years. Larry also was a regular donor at the Lorain County Blood Bank. He was a member of St. Jude Church in Elyria.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jeanne (nee Schlather); seven children, Paul (Christine) Frey, Julie Warmack, Laura (Joseph) Quigley, Joseph (Lyndsey) Frey, Cheryl (James) Richards, Kristen (Anthony) Frank and Michael (Mary) Frey; brothers, John (Kathleen) Frey, James (Deborah) Frey; sister, Mary Frey and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, George and Robert; sister, Noreen Mohney and his parents, Norman and Irene Frey (nee Detzel).
Friends may call at The Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St., Elyria on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 4 until 8 p.m. Closing prayers will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar St., Elyria. The Reverend Father Frank Kosem, Pastor, will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Schlather/Bilskey Family Foundation, 192 Main St., Cooperstown, NY 13326. This foundation provides scholarships to St. Jude Elementary School students who will attend Elyria Catholic High School.
