Shirley L. Stanton (nee Hines), 80, of Elyria, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 19, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born in Arthurdale, West Virginia.
Shirley graduated from Arthurdale High School and moved to Ohio with her husband in 1959, where they started their family. Shirley became a resident of Elyria in 1961 where she enjoyed working at the election polls, Sweet Cream Donuts and being a wonderful homemaker. She also enjoyed camping and bowling. Shirley loved dancing in her younger years and perfected the Jitter Bug and the Polka.
Shirley is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Bud (Ernie); daughters, Freda Thompson (Matt) of Elyria; daughter, Anita Stanton of Zephyrhills, Florida; son-in-law, Scott Hale of Olmsted Falls; grandchildren, Angela, Jeremy, Nathan (Danielle), LeeAnn and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lucile Hines; daughter, Emma Hale and grandson, Kyle Parker.
The family will receive friends from 4 t0 7 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2019 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria, (440) 322-4626, where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2019. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria.
