James P. "Pete" Maxwell, 76, formerly of the Grafton/LaGrange area, gained his angel wings Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Keystone Pointe, LaGrange. He was born September 15, 1942 in Newcomerstown, to the late Arthur P. and Betty J. (nee Mardis) Maxwell.
He was the oldest of nine siblings whom he terrorized. He served in the United States Army from 1959-1965. For the past 33 years, he resided in Painesville with his soul mate Nancy Fortuna. Throughout his life Pete was a painter and an over the road semi-truck driver. He enjoyed reading and refinishing furniture.
Survivors include his life companion, Nancy Fortuna; daughter, Colette D. Maxwell-Twarek (Mark); son, James P. Maxwell, Jr. (Donna); grandchildren, Kristi Murphy (Brandon), James Akers (Helen), Sondra Smith (Matt), Trisha Maxwell (Nick), Frisco Caswell (Sydney), Frank Caswell; great-grandchildren, Bryson and Emma Murphy, Owen and Carter Caswell; sisters, Sharon Thompson, Jean Watkins, Cindy Dalton; brothers, Mike Maxwell (Barb), John Maxwell (Donna), Steve Maxwell; many nieces and nephews and his great-aunt, Dorothy Casteel.
He was greeted at the gates of Heaven by his parents, Arthur P. and Betty J. Maxwell; infant son, Jeffery Alan Maxwell; grandmother, Mildred Mardis and sisters, Susan Sawyers and Lynn Cahill.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
