Shirleyann Sanislow (nee Howard), 77, of Oberlin, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019 after a lengthy illness. She was born August 5, 1941 in Oberlin, where she had been a lifelong resident.

She graduated from Oberlin High School and furthered her studies in criminology. After high school, she married Richard Sanislow and together they operated a family farm and raised three children. She worked for the Oberlin Police Department and then for E and L Transport, where she eventually became the Vice President of Human Resources. She held that position which took her to Detroit, until the company disbanded and she retired.

Shirleyann was very involved in the horse industry. First, with her children in 4H Ghostriders club and later, with showing Morgan horses throughout Ohio. For the past 20 years, Shirleyann owned and operated High Society Stables, where she bred, raised and showed champion Hackney Ponies. Shirleyann could always be found at the Lorain County Fair, cheering on her children and grandchildren as her ponies were being shown. She loved spending her time with her family and friends. She adored her papillon dog, Bo. She will be missed for her caring attitude, wit, humor and ability to "get it done".

Family was very important to Shirleyann and she will be missed and greatly loved by her children, Laura Stanfield, Mike Sanislow and Julie Ann Wigton, all of Oberlin and her grandchildren, Jonathon Stanfield and Alexis Sanislow, also of Oberlin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Sanislow and her parents, John and Jeanette Bernice Howard, Jr. (nee Franklin).
