Pantaleon "Pat" Autintico Ancog, Jr., 64, of Vermilion, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 19, 2019 following an untimely brief illness and lengthy battle with cancer. Born July 26, 1954 to Pantaleon Autintico Ancog, Sr. and Illuminada Ancog in Honolulu, Hawaii. He grew up in Honolulu along with brothers Robert, Richard and John and sisters, Ramona and Anita.
Shortly after graduating from Radford HS Honolulu, he joined the U.S. Army in 1973. After a 22 year career, he retired as a Honorary Sergeant Major following in his father’s footsteps. His tours of duty included Operations Southern Watch (Iraq), Restore Hope (Somalia), Coral Flame (Caribbean) and Continued Hope (Kenya).
He married his love Janet M. Ancog (Gregg) in 1976. They bore three children, James (wife Liza), Thomas (wife Rachel) and Sarah (significant other Edward). He loved every minute he spent with his wife. Family was always important to him. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing and fishing but his real passion was his grandchildren, Kyle, Hannah, Maddison, Quintin, Celeste, Seamus, Derick, Donovan, Sophia and Anthony. He was a member of St. Mary’s parish and Knights of Columbus.
Pat was preceded in death by both parents, Pantaleon Sr. and Illuminada Ancog.
He is survived by all brothers and sisters, as well his wife, Janet; children and grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Mary’s, 731 Exchange St., Vermilion (in the gym) on Saturday, February 9th, 2019, between 11 A.M. and 3:30 P.M. There will be no funeral at this time. Pat donated his body to the Cleveland Clinic Body Donation Program for the advancement of medical science. But all are welcome to attend 4 P.M. Mass at St. Mary’s following the celebration of life.
