Nelson D. "Sleepy" Tremaine, 85, of Elyria, passed away at his home Friday, January 4, 2019 surrounded by family. Nelson was born August 7, 1933 in Lorain, to the late Charles and Laurabelle (nee Horton) Tremaine.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Sleepy was retired from the Ford Motor Company, Avon Lake, where he was a tow motor operator. He retired in 1989 after 31 years of employment.
Sleepy enjoyed bowling, golf and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9871, North Ridgeville and Amvets Post 32, Elyria, where he was a member of the Marine Corps League.
Survivors include his daughter, Anna M. Young of Elyria; son, David Tremaine, Sr. of Lorain; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dale Tremaine of Lorain, Alan (Jeannette) Tremaine of Florida and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Nelson was preceded in death by his wives, Jeannette (nee Fracchione) (2000) and Sherri (nee Breastler) (2007); brother, Charles Tremaine, Jr. and sisters, Violet Thomas, Margaret Rivers and Charlotte Wilsey.
There will be a memorial service at 12 Noon, Sunday, January 20, 2019 at VFW Post 9871, 6805 Lear Nagle Road, North Ridgeville. The Marine Corps of Amvets Post 32 will also participate. Friends will be received from 11:30 A.M. until the time of service. Private family interment in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
