Debra Ellen Statler


Debra Ellen Statler, 57, of Amherst, went to be with her Lord on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Twilight Gardens Home in Norwalk, following a 17 month illness. She was born December 1, 1960 in Amherst.

Debra graduated from Firelands High School and Lorain County Joint Vocational School with the class of 1979. She had lived in Florida, Alaska, Germany, Illinois and Montana before returning to Ohio, where she had made her home since 2001.

Her primary focus in life was that of a homemaker. Debra worked in several occupations outside the home, including work as a dental hygienist. She was a member of Henrietta United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included crafts, watching movies and visiting friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Alice Louise Peters (Mark Ewer) of Illinois; grandchildren, Robert, Christopher, Abigail, Emily and Ryan Lehmann; parents, Richard and Marjorie Statler (nee Riggs) of Amherst; sister, Dianna Lynn Womer (Steve) of Delaware, Ohio; nieces, Jennifer Marie Marangoni (Don) and their son, Steven, Melissa Lynn Schuster (Dan), as well as several aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Edna Statler and Charles and Margaret Riggs.

Friends may call Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 P.M. until the time of the funeral service at 7 P.M. at The Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Additional calling hours will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, 197 N. Maiden Street, Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10 A.M. at Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairall Cemetery in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Henrietta United Methodist Church, 52148 St. Rt. 113, Birmingham, OH 44001 or the Murray Ridge Center, Recreational Department, 9750 Murray Ridge Rd., Elyria, OH 44035.
