Edward Richard Moore, Sr. (Superfly) was born on October 26, 1948 in Louisville, Kentucky. He transitioned from this Earthly Life on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Cleveland Louis Stokes Veterans Hospital, after a brief illness.
He was a resident of Lorain for over 63 years. He was a 1967 graduate of Clearview High School, where he played varsity basketball and ran track. Edward joined the United States Army, where he served in Vietnam. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for outstanding achievement in connection with Military Operations against a hostile force. He also received National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/DVC 60, Soldier medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Sharpshooter (rifle m-16), 2 O/S bars and a Good conduct medal. Edward most enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, riding his motorcycle, shooting pool and playing cards with family and friends.
Edward leaves to mourn his passing his girlfriend, Michelle Myers; six sons, Edward R. (Delois) Moore, Jr., Charles A. Q. (Tiffany) Moore, Louis C. (Debbie) Moore, Desmond R. (Alivia) Moore, Shawn M. Francis and Richard E. (Kathryn) Moore; three daughters, Vallecia Y. (Bobbie) Corn, Jacqueline Smith-Adams and Dolratta L. (Dempsey) Moore-Almodovar; two brothers, Saint Lawrence (Larry) Harris and Wayne Monroe; two sisters, Marva L. Harris and Geraldine Cook; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; special cousin, Joyce Burns and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Bradley Sr. and Dolretta L. Bedell (nee Moore); stepfather, Olden Bedell; brothers, Charles A. Jenkins, Ernest Bradley, Jr. and Percy Owens, Jr.; maternal grandparents, Charlie and Katherine Moore.
A viewing will be Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 11 A.M. until time of funeral service at 12 Noon at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 3900 Clifton Ave., Lorain. Bishop Peter G. Tower will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
