Dolores M. Petrik (nee Bring), 92, of Elyria, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Abbewood Senior Living Community in Elyria, under the care of Hospice of the Western Reserve, following a short illness. She was born August 21, 1926, in Sheffield and resided in Elyria since 1956.
Dolores graduated from Brookside High School with the Class of 1944. She worked for The Magic Chef Stove Company in Lorain as a billing clerk and enjoyed many annual Christmas parties with former employees for over six decades, after the company closed. She later worked at Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems. As a young adult, Dolores was President of the Lorain Sodality Federation and was honored and humbled to participate in the crowning of the statue of the Blessed Mother in May 1952, at George Daniel Stadium.
In May 1956, Dolores married Stephen Petrik. She loved being a homemaker and was devoted to her family and cherished by her granddaughters. She enjoyed needlepoint, sewing, crocheting, quilting, baking, gardening, canning and traveling with her family. She was a faithful member of St. Jude Church as well as the St. Jude Altar and Rosary Society and Senior Fellowship group. Her kind and gentle nature was a blessing to all who knew her.
She is survived by and will be lovingly missed by her daughter, Cynthia (Michael) Kozma of Elyria; granddaughters, Rachel and Sarah Kozma, both of Elyria; sisters, Bernyce (Harry) Pelot and Luceda (Al) Mihalik; sister-in-law, Marie (Joe, deceased) Petrik; brother-in-law, Ed (Jan) Petrik and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Stephen in October 2016; son, Timothy in 1983; parents, Bernard and Rosella (nee Stauder) Bring and sister, Eileen Bring.
The family will receive friends and family Friday, September 7, 2018 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Reichlin-Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria. Closing prayers will be in the funeral home Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 9:30 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 590 Poplar St., Elyria. The Reverend Father Frank P. Kosem, Pastor, will officiate with ConCelebrant The Reverend Father Richard Gonser. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
