Florence Jasinski (nee Nahm), 89, of Amherst, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Elmcroft Nursing Home in Lorain, following a full and meaningful life. She was born July 20, 1928 in Lorain, where she was raised. Florence had made her home in Amherst since 1955.
In her younger years, Florence was employed at U.S. Steel Company in Lorain. She continued her employment with Smith's Deli in Amherst and as a Librarian with the Amherst School district for 25 years. Florence was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. She enjoyed cross stitch, reading and traveling which included global cruises. Florence was an avid SKIPPO player. She also had the joy of coaching her daughter's softball team to a city championship in the early 70s. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Peter Paul Jasinski; children, Tom Jasinski (Kim) of Lexington, Kentucky, David Jasinski (Jackie) of Catawba Island, Ohio, Jill Yost of Winfield, Illinois and Dan Jasinski (Kim) of Vermilion; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Alfred Nahm (Barb) of Avon Lake and sisters, Betty Swineford of Ashland and Patricia Blakely of Cleveland.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Nahm and mother, Sadie Nahm (nee: Miner).
Friends may call Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 20, 2018 at 11 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. The Reverend Timothy O'Connor, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Amherst.
