Lillian T. McLaughlin, 101, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018.She was born in 1916 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Lillian became a U.S. Citizen in 1937 at the age of 21.
She was a Master Teacher of the Japanese embroidery art, Bunka and has received many awards for her Bunka art and for her crocheting. After moving back to Ohio from Sun City, Florida, she became a member of St. Michael Parish, where she sang in the choir. More recently, she was a member of St. Peter Parish in Columbus.
She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn (Joseph) Sabino of Columbus; sons, William (Jane) of Phoenix, Arizona, James (Jill) of Stevenson Ranch, California and Kevin (Dianne) of Milton, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Julie Sultan, Helen Strines, Maureen Eldridge, Ann Marie Thaler, Sean McLaughlin, Darren McLaughlin, Vincent Sabino, Kevin McLaughlin and Kelly Opatka and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, William H. McLaughlin; daughters, Ann (Sr. Lillian Marie SSND) and Rita C. and Ronald Gehrisch
The family will receive friends at 10 A.M., Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at St. Peter Church, 6899 Smoky Row Rd., Columbus. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church at 11 A.M. Interment will be on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Cemetery, Elyria, where the family lived for many years.
