Lola Tonry Kendall, 98, of Elyria, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 after a full life. She was born August 30, 1919 in Elyria to Joseph and Lola (nee Hansen) Tonry.
Lola was a 1937 graduate of Elyria High School. She worked producing munitions for General Industries during World War II, then in accounting and law offices in Elyria until her marriage to Joseph H. Kendall in 1949, after which she resided in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. She was a homemaker for two decades and a bookkeeper at East Stroudsburg State College (now ESU) from 1970 to 1984.
Lola was a lover of opera, classical music and animals and was devoted to her family.
She is survived by sisters, Roberta Bryner of Warrenton, Missouri, Audry Miller, Carol Lakocy; "adopted" sister, Phyllis Gales, all of Elyria; Lola is also survived by sons and their spouses, William R. Kendall and Dr. Annette Stemhagen of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, Ronald and Jennifer Kendall of Silver Spring, Maryland and Gary Kendall and Rolanda RItzman of New Berlin, Pennsylvania; special family friend, Diane Hales; beloved grandchildren, Carolyn, Austin, Preston and Blake Kendall and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; brothers, Joseph Tonry, Jr. and Eugene Tonry and sister, Dee Latimer.
A memorial service will be Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 6 P.M. at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Her interment will be in Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
