Faye Ella Hayes (nee Reinhart), 73, of Oberlin, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016, peacefully in her home, following a long illness. She was born in Conneaut, Ohio, grew up in Beaver Center and Conneautville, Pennsylvania.
She lived most of her life outside Oberlin, where she raised her family. Faye worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigations in Washington, DC, Manners Restaurant, K-Mart and McDonalds in Amherst, she was an Assistant Manager at Deans Discount in Oberlin and also worked as a local community reporter covering the Firelands Local School District for the Morning Journal. She was an active volunteer in the Firelands Local School District, she supported her children in Cub Scouts, Brownies, Boy Scouts, 4-H, the Firelands Soccer Association, PTA, the Lorain County Soccer League and was also the founding President of the Firelands Music Boosters (now separated into the Firelands Band Boosters and Firelands Choir Boosters).
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Pat Hayes; children, Sean (Debbie) Hayes of Kingsland, Georgia; Erin Hayes of Oberlin; Brian (Jodie) Hayes of Wellington; Mary Shannon Fulton of Lorain; Meegan (Eric) Svendsen of Willowick and Brandon Hayes of Oberlin; her brother, Bruce Reinhart of Chicago, Illinois; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alice Reinhart.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at the Henrietta Township Hall in Oberlin Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 5 until 9 P.M., with a brief service at 7 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Firelands Band Boosters or the Firelands Choir Boosters, 10643 Vermilion Road, Oberlin, 44074.
