Donald George Walton, 69, of Oberlin, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, following a lengthy illness. He was born November 24, 1944 in Steubenville, and was a 1963 graduate of Steubenville High School.
Donald worked for LTV steel as a millwright, until his retirement. He was a longtime member of Walton Hills Church of Christ and recently a member of East Oberlin Community Church. Donald served his Country in the United States Navy. He enjoyed watching the Indians and Football, fishing, and enjoyed his family.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Merikay (nee Campbell); daughters, Jennifer (Jeff) Sivec of Oberlin, Janet Walton, serving in the United States Army in Japan; sister, Beth (Frank) Winslow of Chesapeake, Virginia; grandchildren, Jack and Charlie Sivec and Emma Walton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alberta (nee Smith).
Family will receive friends 1 until 4 P.M., Saturday, September 6, 2014, at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria 440-322-4626, where services will be held at 4 P.M. Pastor Ken Gerhardt, of East Oberlin Community Church, will officiate. Burial will be private.
