Milan Victor "Buck" Pollack

Milan Victor "Buck" Pollack, 88, of Henrietta Township, passed away Friday, August 29, 2014, at Welcome Nursing Home, following a short illness. Milan was born August 2, 1926, in Elyria and spent his entire life in Henrietta Township.

He worked for the Cleveland Quarries for 30 years as a group leader, before working for Ridge Tool for 10 years, retiring in 1988. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII, in the Pacific Theater, receiving the WWII Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon and the American Area Ribbon. He was also a member of the Amherst American Legion Post #118.

The family would like to thank the staff of Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin and New Life Hospice of Lorain for all the compassionate care provided to Milan "Buck" and his family during this difficult time.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Lee Pollack (nee Stargel): his sons, Gerald (Pam nee Jones) Pollack of Oberlin and David (Sheila nee Vandersommen) Pollack of Elyria; four grandchildren, Ross Pollack, Kirk Pollack, Lisa (Bruce) Zabrecky, Katherine Pollack; five great-grandchildren, Drew (Heather) and Brooke Pollack, Nathan Zabrecky, Myleia and Joe Holt, Jr., and one great- great-grandson, Cameron.

Milan was preceded in death by two brothers and one sisterr; as well as his parents, Klaudyn and Katherine Pollack (nee Buttas).

Friends may call Tuesday, September 2, 2014, from 11 A.M., until the time of the service at 1 P.M., at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. The Reverend Gary Lunsford, Pastor of South Amherst First United Methodist Church and the Reverend James Greenawalt, will co-officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst. Military honors will be provided by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Rd., Lorain, OH 44053.
