Vivian Marie Peabody

Vivian Marie Peabody, 97, of Oberlin, passed away Monday, August 4, 2014, at Allen Mercy Hospital in Oberlin. She was born April 1, 1917, to the late Clayton D. and Mary A. Peabody.

She was a graduate of Oberlin High, 1935 and Oberlin Business College 1936. Vivian worked as a Mail Room Administrator for all incoming and outgoing mail for Western Automatic Machine Screw Company, Stanadyne, and Moen Faucet Company of Elyria for 42 years, retiring in 1978. She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Oberlin, Rebecca Circle, 65 year member of Local Grange, State and National Grange, past Juvenile Deputy of State Grange, Farm Women's Club. She was a volunteer Women's Auxiliary of Allen Medical Center and volunteered at Oberlin Senior Center and Oberlin Library. Member of AARP local and National and past president of Oberlin Business and Professional Women's Club and Literary Social Club. Vivian enjoyed traveling, gardening, bowling and playing cards.

She is survived by her sister, Idabelle L. Berg of Henrietta  and a host of cousins and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton D. Peabody, and Mary A. Peabody; and half brothers, Earl, Dwight and Carl Peabody; and half sister, Marjorie Parker.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 7, 2014, at 10 A.M. until service at 11 A.M, at the Cowling Funeral Home in Oberlin, with The Reverend Andy Call, from the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be at North Murray Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association, American Cancer Society or First United Methodist Church of Oberlin.
