He is survived by his beloved wife, Jane (nee Dolacki); son, Steve (Mary) and their son, Will (Michele) and their daughter, Evelyn Rose; Mark (Carlota) and their daughters, Natalie, Erica, Sasha (Gregory Ford) and their daughter, Addilyn Jane; daughter, Juliann (Jim Petrucci) and their daughters, Jackie and Stephanie; daughter, Allison; son, Jason (Caroline) and their daughters, Sarah Cowles and Audrey; and son, Jack. Tuffy is also survived by his sisters, Rose Perichak, Donna Dineff; brother and sister-in-law, John and Barbara Derifaj; and his sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Jim Workman.
Steve, better known to all as Tuffy, was born and raised in Lorain. Later moved to Sheffield, where he raised his family. For the past 35 years he has resided in Brownhelm and Amherst. He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. Tuffy worked for U.S. Steel at the Lorain facility in the Four Seamless Hot End Division and retired after 39 years.
Tuffy lived a full and enriched life. He enjoyed all aspects of sports; coaching, playing and as a dedicated Cleveland fan. He loved to travel with his children and later in life connecting with his Navy buddies and his K-Mart coffee buddies.
The Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 11 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst. The family will receive visitors at the church from 10 A.M. until 11 A.M. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery, 555 North Ridge Road, Lorain, immediately following the funeral. The family invites friends and relatives to join them at the Dovin & Reber Jones reception center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, immediately following the interment.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to the family, which will be disbursed to the charity of their choice.
