Louise Jackson-Whitaker

Louise Jackson-Whitaker (nee Lovett), 89, of Lorain, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014, following a lengthy illness. She was born September 27, 1924 in Free Union, Arkansas and moved to Lorain in 1964.

She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Lorain, where she was part of The Rose of Sharon, choir member and served in the culinary committee. She was a faithful volunteer of the 1970s LCCAA feeding program and lifetime member of the Lorain branch NAACP.

Mrs. Jackson-Whitaker was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, spending time with her children and taking care of her grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed by daughters, Jacqueline "Jackie" (Charles) Ballard, Debra (Larry) Cabbil, Sharon Ward, Marilyn Jackson, all of Lorain; and Brinda Windham of Mansfield; sons, Michael (Joni) Jackson, Frederick (Lakesha) Jackson, both of Lorain and Christopher (Cyndi) Jackson of Elyria; 29 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild; a brother, Veny Lovett; a sister, Florence Heath; many nieces and nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Odell Jackson; second husband, James "JC" Whitaker; her parents, Henry and Virginia (nee Turner) Lovett; a daughter, Caroline Keaton; and a son, Ocie Jackson; brothers, LeeTom Lovett and Henry Lovett; sisters, Flossie Whitfield and Rozena Lovett.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 12, 2014, from 10 A.M. until time of service at 11 A.M., at Original Glorious Apostolic Church, 995 Foster Ave., Elyria, with Evangelist Doris Williams, Pastor, officiating and the Reverend Donald Young, Pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Lorain, as the Eulogist.

Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
