She was born October 30, 1924 in Lorain and was a 1942 graduate of St. Mary High School. She had been a lifelong resident of Lorain, prior to moving to Elyria in 2004. During World War II, she was employed by the U.S. Department of the Navy at National Tube in Lorain and then worked as a switchboard operator for Ohio Bell in Cleveland.
Dorothy was a dedicated and active member St. Anthony of Padua Church in Lorain, where she was a member for most of the first 80 years of her life. She was a member of the choir, Liturgy commission, and for many years, an organist at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Lorain. She was also a member of the Marian Guild, P.T.U., PSR Catechist and part-time secretary in the parish office at various times through the years. For 40 years, she was a member of the St. John Vianney Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order (Third Order of St. Francis.) In addition, she was a founding member of St. Albert the Great Parish in Austin, Texas. She is a member of St. Mary Church in Elyria.
Dot is survived by a son, Brian D. (Susan) Krezman of Elyria; daughter, Kristina (Harry) Krezman Heydorn of Powell, Ohio; grandchildren, Timothy and Elizabeth Krezman and Alyssa, Alex and Evan Heydorn; sister, Carol Kolbe of Lorain and nine nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Thomas A. Krezman in 2004; and parents; John and Mary Tackas.
Friends will be received Sunday, June 22, 2014, from 5 until 8 P.M., at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A Christian wake service will be 5 P.M., Sunday, in the funeral home. Closing prayers will be Monday, June 23, 2014, at 10:30A.M., in the funeral home, followed by an 11 A.M. Funeral Mass at St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. The Reverend Father Charles T. Diedrick will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
