Cecil Morgan Adkins, 81, of Henrietta Township, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at New Life Hospice Residential Center. He was born April 8, 1932, in Huntsville, Tennessee. Cecil made his home in Wakeman for the last 48 years.
He was employed at General Motors in Elyria for 25 years, before retiring as a tow motor driver. Cecil was a member of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church in South Amherst. He was an avid hunter. His greatest joy was being with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Margaret Adkins (nee Miller); his son and his wife, Phillip and Michelle Adkins of Spencer; his son-in-law, Tim Daugherty of Stow; his grandchildren, Justin, Colin, Jenna and Faith; his brother, Woodrow Adkins of Cincinnati; and his sisters, Phyllis Carmichael of Cincinnati and Sue Delivera of Charlotte, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Daugherty in 2010; his brother, Frank Adkins; his sister, Loretta Staley; and his parents, Dewey and Rana Adkins (nee Jeffers).
Friends may call Friday, March 28, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 11 A.M., in the funeral home. The Reverend Jayson Samons, Pastor of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
