Philip D. Regal, Sr., 77, of Columbus Rd., Mt. Vernon, with a short move to Yankee St., Fredericktown, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014, unexpectedly, at Knox Community Hospital. He was born September 24, 1936 in Lorain County, to the late Theodore and Fern (Horton)Regal.
Philip was a retired truck driver with McFarland Brothers and helped out at McFarland’s Llama Farm. He was a veteran, serving in the United States Army. You could always find Philip at Bard’s Diner, Southside Diner, or Bj’s Sports Pub.
He is survived by three sons, Don (Candice) Regal of Wellington, Richard (Renee Minick) of Lorain, Philip Regal, Jr. of Elyria; two daughters, Terrie Jefferies of Elyria, Margie (Ed) Kerman of Amherst; 23 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren: his brother, Jim (Marilyn) Regal of Wellington; and two sisters, Cheryl (Kenny) Gallatin of Ashland and Marilyn (Dick) Foster of Florida.
Besides his parents, Philip was preceded in death by his daughter, Shelia Regal; two grandchildren, Charles Basham, Ashley Regal; brother, Bill Regal; and sister, Shirley (Don) Riddle.
Two Celebration of Life services will be held; first on Saturday, March 15, 2014, beginning at 11 A.M., at First Church of God in Fredericktown, with Pastor Richard Prater officiating. The second service will be Sunday, March 16, 2014, beginning at 2 P.M., at Christ Community Church in Wellington with Pastor Reverend Gary West officiating.
