Lois M. Blackburn, 81, of Grafton, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014 in the Center Ridge Assisted Living Facility in North Ridgeville, after a short illness. She was born May 3, 1932 in Wintersville, Ohio and came to Grafton in 1960 with her late husband Doyle to work at the former Fulton Funeral Home.
The couple purchased the funeral home in 1979, re-naming it the Blackburn Funeral Home. They retired in 2003. Lois was a member of the Grafton United Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and her shih-tzu dogs. Years ago, she enjoyed traveling, camping and working the Lorain County Fair in the needlework barn.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Wayne) Dawson of Flint, Michigan, Donna Johns of Ypsilanti, Michigan; her son, David (Elaine) Blackburn of Grafton; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and by her brother, Judd Parrish.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle E. Blackburn in 2006; her parents, Edward and Eliza Parrish; and by seven sisters.
Friends may call in the Blackburn-Duke Funeral Home, 1021 Main St., Grafton, Monday, February 17, 2014 from 3 to 7 P.M., where funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 11 A.M. The Rev. Delaine McGhee, Pastor of the Grafton United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Twp.
