Roy graduated from Marion L. Steele High School in 1977. He and his wife, Lindie, lived in Lorain for the past two years after moving from Amherst, where they were caretakers for his parents. Roy was a loving husband, son and was always there to lend a hand. He was a role model for his family and friends. Roy worked at York International in Elyria for many years. Later, he drove commercial truck for Angelica Textiles, Statewide Trucking and Ceva Logistics. He and his wife loved to ride on their Harley. They went on many charity runs in the area and loved quiet rides in the country. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed archery hunting with his brother, Bob. They enjoyed fishing and passed their love of nature onto their nieces and nephews. Roy loved music and played in a band with his classmates, called Alias. They later changed their name to Elliott to honor the passing of fellow band member Ed Elliott. Roy wrote and sang all the songs on their CD they recently recorded in 2012. Roy was a faithful member of Christian Temple Disciples of Christ.
Roy is survived by his wife, Linda "Lindie" (Long) of 14 years. He is also survived by his brother, Robert (Mae) Thompson of Sullivan; sisters, Sharon Dobrinski of Lorain and Kathy (Mike) Hunt of Amherst; 12 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
