Gerald was raised in Grafton before residing in Amherst for 42 years. He was an avid Browns, Indians, and Buckeyes fan. He loved his Polish heritage and was a member of the Cleveland Polka Association. He was a proud recipient of a heart transplant in 1996. His pride and joy were his grandchildren.
Gerald is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Myra (nee Schultz); daughter, Linda (Doug) Smith of Bluffton, South Carolina; grandchildren, Amy (Russ) Zamostny of Bluffton, Erick Snyder of Washington DC, and Kayla Smith of Bluffton; great-grandchildren, Meredith and Jake Zamostny; and sister, Jacquelyn Gregory of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence D. and Laura (Nagorka) Byczynski; and brothers, Lawrence G. and Joseph Byczynski.
Per his wishes, no services or visitation will be held.
