Dr. Wayne D. Thiede, formerly of Elyria, died Monday, February 3, 2014, in Columbus. He was born November 14, 1942 in Sandusky, to Annabelle Snellgrove and the late Frank Thiede.
He graduated from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, and taught clinical studies at the College. He had offices in Cleveland, Sandusky and Ashland. He was past president of Huron Lions Club, president of District 13-B and was a volunteer fireman/EMT in Huron. He was a 33rd degree Mason, receiving his Master Mason degree in University Heights. He was Past Master of Marks Lodge #359 F & AM in Huron, Ohio, High Priest of Heights Chapter #206, Illustrious Master of Windemere Council #113, Emminant Commander Corde De Leon Commandry #64, and received the Knight of the York Cross of Honor. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his mother; his wife of 47 years, Carolyn (Hansen); four sons, Todd, Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky, Jason, West Milton, Ohio, Scott and Shawn, Columbus; two daughters, Teal and Tiffany, Columbus; seven grandchildren,; two great-grandchildren; two stepbrothers, Lewie Snellgrove, Ooltewah, Tennessee, John Snellgrove, Sarasota, Florida; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his father, Frank Thiede; and stepfather, Lewie Snellgrove.
The family will have a Memorial Service Saturday, February 8, 2014, at the Fireside Zion United Church of Christ, 13525 Township Rd., 178, Bellevue, Ohio, beginning with a Masonic service at 1:30 P.M., followed immediately with the memorial service.
There will be no showing, as he donated his body to The Ohio State University Medical School.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation or the National Stroke Association.
