Carl Lavern Champion, Jr., 70, and a resident of Florence Township, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014, at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain, following a brief illness. He was born October 2, 1943, in Oberlin. Carl was a lifetime resident of Birmingham.
He was employed as a lineman/assemblyman, at Ford Motor Company for 25 years before retiring. Carl loved camping, fishing and riding his motorcycle.
Survivors include his daughter, Rachel Kay Randolph Cedeno of Elyria; his sisters, Barbara Champion of Birmingham; twin sister, Carol Boles of Marietta and Lois Champion of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dwane and William Champion; his sister, Evelyn Partin; and his parents, Carl, Sr., and Florence Champion (nee Gariss).
Graveside service, at Birmingham Cemetery, will be held at a later date.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to any Lorain National Bank, in care of the Carl Champion, Jr. family.
