She went to Norwalk High School and graduated in 1934. Marjorie married Floyd Arthur Bilton on May 18, 1935 in South Bend, Indiana and they were married for 65 years. They moved to a farm in Hartland Twp., where they remained. She attended West Hartland United Methodist Church for a number of years while her children were growing up. She was a homemaker, loved her children and helping Floyd on the farm. She enjoyed going deer hunting with a group into Pennsylvania. Marjorie always had a love for horses and went on several 3 day trail rides in Metropolitan Park in Rocky River. She enjoyed riding and showing her Appaloosa horses. Marjorie was in the Huron County Sheriff’s Posse along with her two daughters from its inception in 1962 until it disbanded in 1984. She also entered the “Make It Yourself With Wool” contest for a number of years. She enjoyed sewing for the family, quilting, embroidery, crocheting, making leather items and all kinds of other crafts including basket making. She entered many items in the Huron and Lorain County Fairs for many years. Marjorie also enjoyed listening to country gospel music and reading. Since 1972 she enjoyed spending six months each year with Floyd in Eustis and Tavares, Florida.
Marjorie is survived by children, Richard Arthur (Carol) Bilton of Hartland Twp., Penola "Penny" Kathleen (Lewis) Boyd of Lubbock, Texas and Bonnie Harriet (Delbert) Brennan of Wellington; 12 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren; more than 30 great-great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Nannette Bilton of Norwalk. She is also survived by her sister, Ellen Austin of Colorado Springs, Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews; her church family at Brighton Congregational Church in Brighton and Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Church in Mount Dora, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Morrow and Grace (Dillingham) Austin; husband, Floyd Arthur Bilton in 2000; son, David Morrow Bilton in 1971; brothers, Harlan, Tom, George and Bob; and sisters, Harriet Bell and Elizabeth "Betty" Brown.
Marjorie’s family will greet friends from 4 to 6 P.M. on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London, and on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M. with Pastor Bob Hudberg officiating. Burial will follow in Hartland Ridge Cemetery, Collins.
