Herbert Clark Willis

Herbert Clark Willis, 84, of Oberlin, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. He was born May 24, 1929 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He worked as an Air Traffic Controller at Oberlin F.A.A. for many years up until his illness. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Scout Master, served on Oberlin City Council, Oberlin Cable Coop for years and Past President. Herb was also Past President of Oberlin Senior Center and was a Mentor at Langston Middle School. Herb was a Track and Field Official for many years and served as Oberlin High School Track Coach as well. Herb was a member of the Masons Central Star Lodge #73. He enjoyed fishing and watching Steelers Football.

He is survived by his wife, Helen I. Willis of Oberlin; daughter, Pam M. (Kevin) Bradford of Oberlin; son, Andre C. (Tricia) Willis of Providence, Rhode Island; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; and his sister, Jean Audrey Heyward of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Willis; mother, Alice Willis; brother, Paul Willis, Jr.; and a nephew, Edward Craig Heyward.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 10 A.M. until the time of services at 11 A.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Reverend Fred L. Bell will officiate.
