John M. "Jack" Lamb

John M. "Jack" Lamb, 78, of Sheffield Village, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at his home. Born in Cleveland, he had resided in Cleveland for many years before moving to North Olmsted and then later to Sheffield Village, where he had resided the past 13 years.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a Lieutenant in the late 1950’s. Mr. Lamb was a proud Wildcat, having graduated from St. Ignatius High School. He then went on to receive his Bachelors of Science Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan. An Educator by trade, he worked as a math teacher for many local schools, starting at Clearview, then the majority of his career in the Lakewood City School System at Emerson and Horace Mann Middle Schools, then later at St. Edward Catholic High.

Being an avid sports fan, he enjoyed golfing, fishing and coached baseball, basketball and football for many local schools and summer programs.

And for all that knew him, he was always smiling and could tell a joke with the best of them. He truly enjoyed his kids, grandchildren and his many friends. In his later years, he became a part time artist, becoming quite accomplished with water colors and pencil drawing of wildlife and landscapes.

Survivors include in wife of 33 years, Bernice; three sons, John B. (Maggie) of Rocky River, Scott (Jeanette) of Tyler, Texas and Steven (Laina) Lamb of Bay Village; four grandchildren; one brother, Charles (Charlotte) Lamb of Warren, Michigan; two sisters, Judy Lamb of Burbank, California and Janet (Mike) Theriot of Olmsted Falls; and his beloved nieces and nephews, including Curtis Bouman, Marianela and Gregory Zytkowski.
