Harold Dean Kolbe

Funeral services for Mr. Harold Dean Kolbe, 79, of Sparta, will be held at 1 P.M., Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home, with Rev. Perry Clayton officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery in White County, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 P.M., Friday, December 13, 2013 and from 11 A.M. until the time of service Saturday, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be family members, Matthew Dexter, Joseph Meredith, Corey Bond, Brian Militana and bowling friends, Dennis Hargis, Mike Bensen, David Miller and Ed Copeland. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Holt, Bill Babb and Nick Nichols.

Mr. Kolbe died Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville. He was born September 25, 1934 in Amherst, to the late Oliver Peter and Dorothy Mae Beetler Kolbe.

Mr. Kolbe was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was the Green Superintendent of Ironwood Golf Course in Cookeville. He formerly was employed as a truck driver and bank loan manager.

He is survived by his companion, Joyce Hardin of Sparta; three daughters and two sons-in-laws, Denette Kolbe, Kim and Gary Meredith, all of Cookeville, Paula and Fentris Bond of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; step son, Kevin Harden of Sparta; step daughter, Rhonda Harden of Sparta; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bette and Don Ludwig of Lorain, Virginia and Jim Corbett of Huron; grandchildren, Amy Dexter (Brian Militana), Matt Dexter (Leveda), Joseph Meredith, Corey Bond, Ciera Bond; and step grandchildren, Tiffini Linger (Steve), Jessica Harden and Karissa Sims (Justin); and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Schultz.
