George Wallace Sherrard, 65, of Oberlin, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at EMH Healthcare after a short illness. He was born March 9, 1948 in Elyria.
He worked as a train operator at Republic Steel for 40 years, retiring 2011. He enjoyed traveling, woodworking, gardening and trains. He was an avid Browns fan and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Sherrard of Oberlin; son, Tom H. Sherrard of Metamora, Indiana; daughters, Shari D. Bartish of Metamora, Indiana, L. Amanda Sherrad of Oberlin; stepdaughters, Eva Mittler of Cleveland, Renee (Brad) Watson of Wellington; stepson, Mark (Tory) Mittler of Elyria; nine grandchildren; brother, Charles (Linda) Sherrard of Elyria; and sisters, Enid Millholland of Georgia, Edna Moore of Elyria, Joyce (Brad) Totaro of New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alice Sherrard.
A Memorial Service will be Monday, December 9, 2013, 11 A.M., in the Cowling Funeral Home, Oberlin. Pastor Charles A. Keesee, of Midway Baptist Church, will officiate. There will be a private family burial in Westood Cemetery.
