Timothy J. Smith

Timothy J. Smith, 66, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013, after a hard fought battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Tim was born in Lorain, June 11, 1947.

He was a graduate of Admiral King High School, Class of 1965. Following graduation, Tim enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably for three years. Tim worked 30 years as an Engineer for Lake Terminal Railroad in Lorain, with 22 of those years as the General Chairman of UTU Local 1391. He was a dedicated union leader willing to help out anyone in need. He enjoyed history, classic movies, listening to old time country and rock and roll and was an avid baseball fan. He was also a very dedicated family man and friend to many, having enjoyed vacations and spending time with them.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of nearly 40 years, Cathy (nee Oravec) Smith; sons, Timothy B. Smith and Kevin A. Smith of Lorain; granddaughter, Katie Smith; brothers, James J. Smith of Lorain and Daniel P. Smith, wife, Brenda (nee Diluciano) of Avon; mother-in-law, Julia Oravec; and many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Winifred (nee Wise) Smith of Lorain

The family will receive friends Monday, December 2, 2013, from 4 until 8 P.M., at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M., Tuesday, December 3, 2013. at the funeral home. Burial services will be held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, where military honors will be performed by Amvets Post 32.
