Samuel E. Pizer, 56, of Lorain, formerly of Avon, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, following a lengthy illness. He was born June 3, 1957 in Indiana, Pennsylvania and was a life-long resident of Lorain County.
Mr. Pizer was formerly employed as a service truck driver for White’s Towing in Avon Lake. He was a member of Moose Lodge #778 in Elyria. Mr. Pizer was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, archery and motorcycling. He also enjoyed bowling.
He is survived by one sister, Reverend Debra Dechant (Lenny) of Elyria; two brothers, Martin Carlton (Cynthia) and Gregory Carlton (Donna), both of Cleveland; two nephews, James and Joel Curtis; two nieces, Debra Lyons and Melanie Carlton; two great-nephews, Klint Lyons and Jacob Curtis; and two great-nieces, Danielle Steele and Jenna Curtis.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eli Pizer, formerly of Indiana, Pennsylvania in 1959; and his mother, Ruth Wearsch (nee Deyarmin), formerly of Avon, in 2013.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a memorial service Saturday November 9, 2013, at 4 P.M., at Living Waters Christian Fellowship, 4110 Gary Avenue in Lorain. Reverend Debra Dechant and Pastor Terry Grapenthin will co-officiate.
