Irma Strojny-Jones (nee Polgary), 83, of Elyria, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013, at the Center Ridge Health Campus in North Ridgeville, following a long illness. She was born August 3, 1930 in Roznava, Slovakia and was a Lorain area resident for most of her life.
Irma was employed as a assembler at Lorain Products for 12 years, retiring in 1992. She enjoyed traveling, playing slot machines, knitting and sewing.
Survivors include her daughter, Erika (Bob) Stephens of Elyria; grandchildren, Monica, Erika and Ashley; and sister, Magdi Kecmarikova of Roznava, Slovakia.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gejza Strojny; second husband, Frank Jones; son, Peter Strojny; and a sister, Juci Grendova.
The family will receive friends Sunday, October 27, 2013, 2 until 4 P.M., at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Monday, October 28, 2013, at 11 A.M., in the funeral home. The Reverend Father Charles Diedrick, Pastor of St. Mary Church, will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Grafton.
