Wendolyn Joyce Simmons, 70, of Oberlin, passed away suddenly, at home, Wednesday, October 9, 2013. She was born April 15, 1943, in Oberlin.
She worked as Director of Imaging at Allen Mercy Hospital for 32 years, retiring in 2008. Wendy was a member of Rust United Methodist Church of Oberlin. She was past President of N.A.N.B.P.W and a member of N.A.A.C.P. Wendy enjoyed travel, western movies and spending time with family.
She is survived by her daughter, Carrie B. (Shawn) Simmons Moss of Powell, Ohio; three grandchildren; 19 step grandchildren; stepsons, Kenneth Simmons, Wadell Simmons, Jr., both of Columbus; stepdaughters, Katherine Simmons of Sandusky, Gayle Short of Sandusky, Tanya Simmons of Elyria, Hope (Gordon) English of Berea; brother, Sydney Scott of Cleveland; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wadell W. Simmons, Sr.; mother and father, Lena B. Scott and Robert Lee Scott; and brother, Warren T. Scott
Memorial Service will be Wednesday, October 16, 2013, 11 A.M., at Rust United Methodist Church, Oberlin, with Reverend Kevin L. Coleman officiating. There will be a private family burial in Westwood Cemetery.
