Malvine Karhusz

Malvine Karhusz (nee Elles), 97, of Lorain, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Oak Hills Nursing Center. She was born January 15, 1916, in Lorain, and was a lifelong resident.

Malvine was a member of the Church of St. Peter, and a former member of St. Michaels Byzantine Church. She enjoyed baking, especially for her church, and in younger years, for a fire department near her childhood home on Elyria Ave. She also enjoyed boating, fishing, cooking, sewing, crocheting and photography.

She is survived by her daughter, Marcia (Joseph) Kukucka of Lorain; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, John Elles of Mexico, Missouri; many nieces and nephews; and son, David Karhusz.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Joseph in 1999; her parents, John and Helen (Siska) Elles; brother, Bert Elles; sister, Irene Meyers; and niece, Nancy Meyers.

Friends may call Friday, July 12, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M., at Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 13, 2013, beginning with closing prayers at 9 A.M. in the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of St. Peter. Father Craig Hovanek will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
