Gordon A. Freeman

Gordon A. Freeman, 78, of Elyria, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain. He was born May 18, 1935 in Elyria and was a 1954 Elyria High School graduate.

Gordon had served in the U.S. Army. He was employed by C.A. Olsen (Luxaire) until 1991. He coached CYO boys football, basketball, track and girls basketball for 25 five years. Gordon was the Club House Manager of Forest Hills Country Club for five years. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed golf, fishing, watching and rooting on the Indians, Browns and Cavs.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen A. (nee Janas); three sons, Christopher (Sandra), Allen (Samantha), Michael (Elaine); two daughters, Patricia Ailport (Glen), Janice Liszeski (Ted); additional survivors include 14 grandchildren, Jonathan, Will, Hannah, Brittany, Simon, Samantha, Sara, Benjamin, Hayden, Elise, Holden, Colette, Sammy, and Hunter; two brothers, Lester (Rose), Roger; and a sister, Elaine Bryner (Gene).

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Mabel (nee Zacharias) Freeman; sister, Wanda Butz (the late Bob); and his father and mother-in-law, William and Mary Janas.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M., Friday, July 5, 2013 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria, (440) 322-4626. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 A.M., Saturday, July 7, 2013 at St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. Rev. Fr. Charles T. Diedrick, Pastor, will be the Celebrant (please meet at the church). Burial will be private.
