Jean Hartman

Jean Hartman, 89, of Wellington, died Wednesday, June 12, 2013 surrounded by family and holding hands with her husband at the Elms Retirement Village in Wellington. A daughter of the late Roy Curtis and Adah (nee Sprinkle) Whitcomb, Jean was born in Wellington on February 26, 1924. She was a 1942 Sullivan High School graduate.

Jean spent many years volunteering at the hospital. She then began working as a Medical Record Librarian for the Wellington Hospital. Jean was a member of the Pittsfield Community Church, the Pythian Sisters and Town and Country.

Her hobbies included quilting, sewing and cake decorating. She often had tea parties with friends at nursing facilities. Jean also treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her loving husband of 71 years, Ernest; children, Ernest Harold (Mary Ann) Hartman of Huntington, Barney Ray (Linda J.) Hartman of Pittsfield, Mary Maxine (Layton) Meininger of Ashland, James Curtis (Linda M.) Hartman of Wellington and Stuart Eugene (Vicki) Hartman of Oberlin; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Florence Finkel, Margaret Heister, Emily May, June Thompson and Carl "Bud" Whitcomb.

Friends and Family will be received Friday, June 14, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington and Saturday, June 15, 2013 from 9 A.M. until the 10:30 A.M. service with Father James Reymann and Chaplain Roger Loomis officiating. Burial will follow at Sullivan Southview Cemetery.
