He graduated from North Ridgeville High and continued on to Oberlin Business College. He served in the U.S. Army, until he was medically discharged. William was married to Joanne Baum on August 18 and were married 56 years.
William worked at Pais Shell for his brother for 33 years. He then worked for North Ridgeville High School for three years. He also worked at Amaco in North Ridgeville, until choosing to work for Armbruster Shell until retiring in 2002. He served as a North Ridgeville Councilman for two terms. He owned Mills Creek Wine Shop.
William enjoyed being a manager and coach for boys baseball. He played basketball for Smitty's championship team, in the 1940's. He was part of the Lion's Club, VFW post 1079, and Moose Lodge 0778. He enjoyed basketball, fishing, spending time with his animals, dancing and listening to Lawrence Welk with his granddaughter, Paige.
William is survived by his wife, Joanne; daughter and caregiver, Aimee (Kevin) Carstens; son, William (Mary) Pais; daughter, Renee (Melvin) Hodge; son, Mark (Denise) Pais; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and sisters, Eleanor Pais and Gena Mallow.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Mary Pais; brothers, Nick, John, Paul, George, Emil, and a baby brother; sisters, Mildred and Mary; grandson, Kenneth Pais.
