Raymond M. Jakubec

Raymond M. Jakubec, 61, of Little River, South Carolina, formerly of Elyria and Lorain, went home to be with the Lord at his residence on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, following a one year illness. Ray was born in Lorain on June 13, 1951 and was a life long resident of Lorain County, before moving to South Carolina nine years ago.

He was a 1969 graduate of Admiral King High School in Lorain. Ray was employed for over 33 years by the May Department Stores Corporation. He started out at the former May Company store at Sheffield Center and then worked at the May Company store at Sandusky Mall. He then became the Coordinator of Operations at the former May Company/Kaufmann’s store at Great Northern Mall in North Olmsted where he worked for many years. After moving to South Carolina, Ray was working as a Supply Chain Tech at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

He was a member and a Deacon at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Ray was a family man and he enjoyed spending time with his step son and daughter-in-law. His greatest joy came from his beloved grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Charlotte (nee Liston); step son, Robert Dodge, Jr. (Emily) of Mooresville, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Rebecca, Victoria and Justin Dodge; two brothers, Kevin (Sheila Lee) and Mark (Beth) Jakubec, both of Lorain; and by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Hilda (nee Furjanic) Jakubec.

The family will receive friends Sunday, February 3, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road (at Stoney Ridge Road), North Ridgeville. The funeral service will be Monday, February 4, 2013 at 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Ray’s friend of many years, Rev. Dr. Jean-Pierre Duncan and his brother-in-law, Rev. William Liston, will co-officiate the service. Burial will be at Ridgeville Cemetery in North Ridgeville.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church, 410 6th Ave. South, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582.
