William Basil Belan, 65, of Grafton, passed away Monday, January 21, 2013, in EMH Healthcare, following a long illness. He was born September 22, 1947 in Fairview Park and lived most of his life in Lorain County.
A 1967 graduate of Avon Lake High School, Mr. Belan served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Europe. He was employed in the heating and air conditioning industry and was self employed most of his life. He enjoyed racing, old cars and model building.
He is survived by sons, Jason Belan of Grafton, Scott Rakosky of Grafton and Keith Rakosky of Lodi; and his two grandchildren, Hailee and Tyler. Survivors also include his brother, James Belan of Grafton; half sisters, Henrietta Terlaak of Olmsted Falls, Mary Hagert of Thompson; and half brother, Joe Mederer of North Ridgeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillian Belan; five sisters; and three brothers.
