He was an Elyria High School graduate and attended Kent State University. He taught at Walsh College in Canton, Ohio. He was U.S. Marine and was stationed in Germany. He was president of the Elyria Lions Club and attended St. Jude's Church in Elyria. He worked as a boil maker, Local 744.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; sons, Richard of Del Ray Beach, Florida and Phillip of Tamarac, Florida; daughters, Jennifer Hunter of Oakland Park, Florida, Beth Ryan of Whitesboro, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; mother, Evelyn Cutshall of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marlyn; and brother, Donald.
