Ruth I. Lockwood, 89, of Lorain, formerly of Florence Township, went home Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain. She was born September 21, 1923 in Florence Township.
She was a 1943 graduate of Birmingham High School. She loved to crochet, making lap throws for the ladies ministry at Cornerstone Community Church in Amherst. Ruth also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and bowling. Ruth loved her two pet birds Missy and Pepper.
She is survived by her two children, Sandra Snell of Lorain, and Kenneth (Linda) Croll of Louisville, Kentucky; two brothers, Jerry (Faris) Brewster of Amherst and Donald Brewster of Ohio; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Lockwood; her parents, Leroy and Amelia (Didelius) Brewster; and her step mother, Ivalynn (Ford), who raised her following the death of Amelia; she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Maynard, Orrin and Phillip Brewster.
Friends may call Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 2 P.M. until the time of service at 3 P.M. at the Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper Street, Wakeman. Pastor Dave McNeely of Cornerstone Community Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at Wakeman Cemetery.
