Lonnie Elaine Clark (nee Bray), 71, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, following a lengthy illness.
Lonnie was born August 31, 1941 in Tateville, Kentucky. As a young girl her family moved to South Amherst. The Amherst area has been her home all of her life.
Lonnie worked as a cleaning matron for the South Amherst/Firelands School system for 20 years, retiring in 1999. She was a member of the Free Pentecostal Church in New Russia Township. Lonnie loved spending her time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Junior Clinton Clark; her sons, Mark Clark (Tina) of Vermilion, Matthew Clark (Carla) of Amherst; daughters, Judy Kathleen Klamp of Ashland, Dorita Gail Collins of Carollton, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brothers, Robert E. Bray (Skeeter) of Lorain, Denton Bray (Linda) of Amherst, Edward Bray (Judy) of Louisville, Kentucky; sisters, Pamela Gray (Sonny) of Lorain, Debra Green of Amherst.
Lonnie was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Jean Clark in 1963; brothers, Palmo Bray, Delno Bray; sisters, Rohana Marcum, Rozella Holloway, Kathryn Bray and Geraldine Morrow; her parents, Ottis and Elsie Bray (nee Phelps).
Friends may call Sunday, November 25, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 26, 2012 at 11 A.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. Farrell Keith, Pastor of Grace Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
