Lonnie Elaine Clark (nee Bray), 71 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Lonnie was born August 31, 1941, in Tateville, Kentucky. As a young girl her family moved to South Amherst. The Amherst area has been her home all of her life.
Lonnie worked as a cleaning matron for the South Amherst/Firelands School system for 20 years, retiring in 1999. She was a member of the Free Pentecostal Church in New Russia Township. Lonnie loved spending her time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Junior Clinton Clark; her sons, Mark Clark (Tina) of Vermilion, Matthew Clark (Carla) of Amherst; her daughters, Judy Kathleen Klamp of Ashland, Dorita Gail Collins of Carollton, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert E. Bray (Skeeter) of Lorain, Denton Bray (Linda) of Amherst, Edward Bray (Judy) of Louisville, Kentucky; and sisters, Pamela Gray (Sonny) of Lorain, Debra Green of Amherst.
Lonnie was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Jean Clark in 1963; brothers, Palmo Bray, Delno Bray; sisters, Rohana Marcum, Rozella Holloway, Kathryn Bray and Geraldine Morrow; and her parents, Ottis and Elsie Bray (nee Phelps).
Friends may call Sunday, November 25, 2012, from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 P.M., at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 26, 2012, at 11A.M., at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst. The Reverend Farrell Keith, Pastor of Grace Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
