He attended Oberlin High School and served in the U.S. Army during WWII under General Patton as a rifleman. He worked many years for Construction firms Andy Johns & C.P. Gilgenbach, and as an Inspector for City of Elyria. He enjoyed playing the lottery, word puzzles, gardening canning and playing golf.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristine K. DeBevec of Oberlin; brother, Lewis M. Keefer of Hayesville, Ohio; sisters, Glenda G. (Dennis) Gilbert, Lila M. Westervelt and Loretta Y. Farmer, all of Ashland; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Mae Keefer; father, Carl Keefer; step father, Charles Keel; brother, William H. Keefer; and sister, Barbara Denbow.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 10 A.M. until services at 11 A.M. at Cowling Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Able officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Camden Cemetery, with full military honors.
